📌 About the Role

The hiring organization is expanding its geoscience capabilities and seeking a technically strong geophysicist who can support a range of near-surface geophysical programs. The selected candidate will play a key role in planning, executing, and interpreting geophysical surveys for engineering, environmental, and geotechnical purposes.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams—geologists, engineers, surveyors, and project managers—to provide high-quality subsurface data essential for large-scale construction, infrastructure planning, geotechnical site characterization, groundwater investigations, utility detection, and environmental impact assessments.

This role is suited for someone who can manage field operations, maintain equipment, ensure data quality, and produce clear interpretive reports. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of survey methodologies and uphold international best practices in field geophysics and safety compliance.


📌 Key Responsibilities

1. Field Survey Execution

  • Conduct near-surface geophysical surveys such as GPR, electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), seismic refraction, MASW, EM profiling, and magnetometry, depending on project requirements.
  • Ensure all surveys follow technical standards and project specifications.
  • Oversee mobilization, site preparation, and instrument calibration.

2. Data Acquisition and Quality Control

  • Collect high-quality field data with strict adherence to QC procedures.
  • Identify and troubleshoot noise sources, environmental interference, and instrument issues.
  • Maintain detailed field logs, metadata, and survey documentation.

3. Interpretation and Reporting

  • Process and interpret datasets using appropriate software tools (Res2DInv, SeisImager, ReflexW, etc.).
  • Generate subsurface models, layering interpretations, anomaly mapping, and engineering-geophysical assessments.
  • Prepare clear, accurate technical reports supported by diagrams, maps, and cross-sections.

4. Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration

  • Work alongside geotechnical engineers to integrate geophysical results with borehole logs, laboratory data, and geological models.
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to project discussions.

5. Safety, Compliance, and Equipment Management

  • Follow all Qatar HSE policies and company safety protocols during field operations.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and inventory of geophysical equipment.
  • Support continuous improvements in survey methodology and operational efficiency.

📌 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
  • Proven experience in near-surface geophysical investigations, preferably in engineering or geotechnical environments.
  • Strong understanding of geophysical survey design, field operations, and data interpretation.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively under challenging outdoor conditions.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
  • A proactive and professional work attitude, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
