🚨 We’re Hiring: Wellsite Geologist – Angola (28/28 Rotation)

A leading oil and gas operator is seeking an experienced Wellsite Geologist to join operations in Angola on a 28/28 rotation. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a challenging field environment, contribute directly to drilling operations, and play a pivotal role in real-time geological decision-making.

If you are a motivated geoscience professional who thrives under field conditions and enjoys applying your technical expertise to optimize drilling performance, this position provides the ideal platform to grow your career in the upstream oil and gas industry.

🌟 About the Role

As a Wellsite Geologist in Angola, you will be embedded within the drilling team and responsible for providing continuous geological support throughout the drilling program. You will analyze geological data, monitor well conditions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

This role demands technical excellence, attention to detail, and the ability to make informed decisions under tight timelines. It offers exposure to complex geological environments, offshore and onshore drilling operations, and the opportunity to contribute to high-impact exploration and production activities.

🌟 Key Responsibilities

The Wellsite Geologist will undertake a range of critical tasks including:

Geological Monitoring & Analysis

  • Monitor drilling operations in real time and provide geological input for wellbore placement.

  • Perform cuttings and core analysis, ensuring accurate lithological and stratigraphic interpretation.

  • Conduct formation correlation and evaluate subsurface conditions to anticipate potential drilling hazards.

Operational Support

  • Advise the drilling team on geological hazards, including pressure anomalies, fault zones, and formation stability issues.

  • Recommend drilling adjustments based on geological observations to optimize well placement and performance.

  • Liaise with mud engineers, drilling engineers, and other field personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily drilling reports summarizing geological findings, drilling progress, and operational recommendations.

  • Generate end-of-well reports, providing a comprehensive overview of the geological outcomes and lessons learned.

  • Maintain meticulous records of geological data, samples, and analyses for internal reporting and regulatory compliance.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure all geological operations comply with HSE standards, company policies, and local regulations.

  • Actively contribute to a safety-first culture, identifying hazards and mitigating risks in real time.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geological insights into drilling and production planning.

  • Share knowledge and mentor junior geologists, enhancing the skill set of the operational team.

  • Participate in post-well reviews and contribute recommendations for improving geological practices and drilling efficiency.

🌟 Requirements

To excel in this position, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Geoscience, or a related field.

  • Experience: Proven wellsite experience, preferably in Angola or similar offshore/onshore environments.

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of drilling operations, formation evaluation, core and cuttings analysis, and subsurface geology.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration with international teams.

  • Problem-Solving & Decision Making: Ability to make timely, informed decisions based on geological data under operational constraints.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work on a 28/28 rotation schedule, adapting to offshore or remote field conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with geological software tools (e.g., Petrel, OpenWorks, or similar).

  • Knowledge of offshore safety protocols and Angola-specific regulations.

  • Exposure to high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) wells or complex reservoir formations.

🌟 Why Join This Team?

  • Challenging & Rewarding Role: Work in a dynamic field environment with real-time impact on drilling operations.

  • Professional Growth: Gain experience in international oil and gas operations, offshore drilling, and complex geological formations.

  • Collaborative Environment: Join a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals and enhance your technical and operational expertise.

  • Competitive Compensation: Attractive benefits and allowances tailored for field personnel on a 28/28 rotation.

  • Global Exposure: Contribute to a high-profile project in Angola, providing valuable international experience.
