We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Directional Drillers to join a dynamic and safety-driven team on high-profile oil and gas projects across Saudi Arabia. This is an excellent opportunity for drilling professionals who are passionate about operational excellence, innovative drilling techniques, and working in challenging environments.

This role requires a proactive, technically competent individual capable of delivering precise wellbore trajectories while ensuring safety and efficiency at every stage of the drilling process. The successful candidates will be part of a multidisciplinary team including engineers, geologists, rig crews, and client representatives.

🌟 Key Responsibilities

As a Directional Driller, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing directional, horizontal, and multilateral wells in line with client specifications and project objectives. Key responsibilities include:

Drilling Operations & Well Planning

  • Plan and execute directional drilling operations according to well design, trajectory, and target objectives.

  • Monitor and control wellbore trajectory using directional drilling tools, software, and real-time telemetry data.

  • Interpret measurement-while-drilling (MWD) and logging-while-drilling (LWD) data to guide drilling decisions.

  • Collaborate with drilling engineers and geologists to optimize BHA (Bottom Hole Assembly) selection and drilling performance.

  • Execute multilateral and complex well paths while minimizing risk and adhering to operational standards.

Technical Support & Problem Solving

  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to rig crews, assistant drillers, and client representatives on-site.

  • Identify and troubleshoot operational challenges, such as torque-and-drag, doglegs, hole cleaning, and wellbore stability issues.

  • Implement best practices in directional drilling to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and safety.

  • Conduct real-time problem-solving using data from surveys, mud logs, and downhole sensors.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit detailed daily activity reports, BHA performance summaries, and end-of-well reports.

  • Document technical challenges, lessons learned, and optimization opportunities for future drilling operations.

  • Maintain accurate records of drilling parameters, directional surveys, and operational decisions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to company safety protocols, Saudi Aramco (or client-specific) standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Promote a safety-conscious culture on the rig, providing guidance to crew members on best practices.

  • Participate in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.

  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies, including personal protective equipment, permit-to-work systems, and emergency response procedures.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing drilling efficiency, wellbore accuracy, and operational safety.

  • Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and other stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to drilling challenges.

  • Support mentoring and knowledge-sharing within the drilling team to develop junior staff and enhance operational capability.

🎯 Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Proven experience in directional drilling including horizontal, multilateral, and extended-reach wells.

  • Hands-on experience with Measurement While Drilling (MWD) tools and interpreting real-time downhole data.

  • Previous work experience in Saudi Arabia is preferred.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work in remote, high-temperature, and challenging environments.

  • Familiarity with BHA design, torque-and-drag calculations, and wellbore hydraulics.

  • Commitment to HSE standards and safety-conscious practices.
