Asante Gold is seeking a highly experienced Senior GIS Geologist to join our exploration and resource evaluation team. This role is critical in leveraging geospatial and geological data to drive informed decision-making, optimize exploration strategies, and support environmental and operational management initiatives. The Senior GIS Geologist will provide technical leadership in managing GIS databases, conducting spatial analyses, and integrating geospatial insights into geological modeling and resource planning.

This position offers the opportunity to work on large-scale gold exploration projects, contributing to the discovery and development of high-value mineral resources while ensuring sustainable and efficient operations.

🌟 Key Responsibilities

Geospatial Database Management & Integration

  • Develop, integrate, and maintain geospatial and geological databases to ensure accurate visualization and interpretation for exploration and mining operations.

  • Ensure data integrity, version control, and metadata documentation are maintained in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with geologists, surveyors, and exploration managers to design field programs that maximize geospatial insights.

  • Manage geological and geospatial data integration from multiple sources, including geochemistry, geophysics, remote sensing, and field surveys.

Spatial Analysis & Modeling

  • Conduct advanced spatial modeling, interpolation, and predictive analyses using GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, QGIS, and specialized tools like Leapfrog, Surpac, Studio RM.

  • Perform complex geospatial analyses to support resource targeting, exploration planning, and operational decision-making.

  • Utilize satellite imagery, remote sensing data, Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), UAV data, LiDAR, and aerial photography for terrain analysis, lithological mapping, and environmental assessments.

  • Apply image classification, change detection, and predictive modeling techniques to inform mine planning, rehabilitation, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Create dynamic maps, dashboards, 3D visualizations, cross-sections, and geological models for reporting, technical reviews, and strategic planning.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide technical leadership to the exploration team in integrating GIS and geospatial analyses into geological modeling and resource evaluation.

  • Collaborate closely with resource geologists, metallurgists, mine planners, and surveyors to ensure GIS insights are fully integrated into project workflows.

  • Lead the implementation of geospatial innovations, data mining, and machine learning techniques to improve predictive modeling and resource evaluation.

  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering high-performance teams and promoting continuous learning and improvement.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Implement and enforce QA/QC procedures for geospatial and geological data management.

  • Maintain consistency, traceability, and reliability of datasets across multiple projects.

  • Ensure all outputs meet company, regulatory, and industry standards for geospatial and geological reporting.

Reporting & Strategic Support

  • Produce high-quality maps, reports, and presentations to support exploration, resource evaluation, and environmental management.

  • Provide geospatial and geological insights to support strategic decision-making, project planning, and operational improvements.

  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and recommendations to management and internal stakeholders.

🌟 Education, Experience & Competencies

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geomatics, Geological Engineering, Geography, GIS, or a related discipline.

  • Postgraduate qualifications are advantageous, particularly in geospatial analysis, remote sensing, or mineral exploration.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in gold mineral exploration, including substantial GIS and geospatial analysis experience.

  • Professional registration with a recognized geological or geospatial association is desirable.

  • Proven experience integrating geological, geochemical, geophysical, and remote sensing datasets for exploration and resource development.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, at varying scales, with oversight and leadership responsibilities.

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced proficiency in GIS and CAD software: ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, QGIS, Leapfrog, Surpac, Studio RM.

  • Database management experience using platforms such as Access, SQL, Fusion, Acquire.

  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, spatial data management, and geospatial analysis.

  • Familiarity with data mining and machine learning techniques for predictive and descriptive modeling.

  • Solid understanding of economic geology principles and QA/QC standards.
