We’re Hiring: Senior Geochemist
Company: Asante Gold
Location: [Location Specific – as per company operations]
Asante Gold is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Geochemist to join our exploration and resource development team. This is an exciting opportunity for a geochemistry professional with extensive experience in mineral exploration and resource modeling to play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s projects through innovative geochemical analysis, predictive modeling, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The Senior Geochemist will provide technical leadership in geochemical survey design, data collection, interpretation, and integration with other geoscience datasets. This role bridges exploration, mine geology, metallurgy, and mine planning by developing predictive geo-metallurgical models that link orebody characteristics to metallurgical performance.
🌟 Key Responsibilities
Geochemical Survey & Data Management
-
Plan, design, and oversee regional and project-scale geochemical surveys, including soil, stream sediment, rock, and drilling programs.
-
Ensure strict adherence to sampling protocols, QA/QC standards, and laboratory analysis procedures to maintain data integrity and reliability.
-
Manage and maintain geochemical databases, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and traceability across all exploration projects.
-
Perform complex data analysis to identify geochemical anomalies, alteration halos, and pathfinder element associations using advanced techniques such as ICP-MS and portable XRF.
Integration & Modeling
-
Interpret multi-element geochemical signatures to delineate mineralized zones and structural features critical for resource discovery.
-
Integrate geochemical datasets with geological, geophysical, and remote sensing information to enhance target generation and exploration success.
-
Apply advanced multivariate statistical and spatial modeling techniques, including PCA, cluster analysis, and machine learning, to develop mineral prospectivity models.
-
Support the development of predictive geometallurgical models estimating ore hardness, recovery rates, and processing costs.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
-
Collaborate closely with resource geologists, metallurgists, mine planners, and data scientists to integrate geometallurgical insights into resource models and production plans.
-
Assist in linking block model parameters, such as alteration, mineralogy, and geochemistry, to metallurgical performance metrics.
-
Support pit optimization, cut-off grade estimation, and reconciliation studies using geometallurgical data.
Technical Leadership & Innovation
-
Champion the use of advanced technologies in mineralogy (e.g., XRD, MLA, QEMSCAN), geochemistry (e.g., pXRF, ICP-MS), and data analytics.
-
Develop machine learning and AI-driven approaches to predict ore processing behavior and optimize resource development strategies.
-
Provide guidance and mentorship to geochemistry and exploration teams, ensuring high standards of technical excellence and innovation.
Reporting & Strategic Oversight
-
Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
-
Offer strategic leadership across diverse geology-related projects, prioritizing initiatives that deliver maximum business value.
-
Maintain meticulous attention to detail in all deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and professional presentation.
🌟 Education, Experience & Competencies
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.
-
A postgraduate degree (M.Sc. in Applied Exploration Geochemistry) is highly desirable.
Experience
-
Minimum 10 years of experience in exploration geology, with at least 5 years in a Senior Geologist role.
-
Demonstrated leadership in managing diverse geology-related projects, including prioritization of competing issues.
-
Proven track record in mineral exploration, geochemical survey design, and integration with geological and metallurgical data.
Technical Competencies
-
Proficiency in geological and mining software platforms, including Geosoft Oasis Montaj, ENVI, ArcGIS, Micromine, Leapfrog, Surpac, and Datamine.
-
Strong knowledge of structural geophysical mapping, target identification, and QA/QC standards in exploration.
-
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to apply statistical, geospatial, and predictive modeling to complex datasets.
