Zodcon is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Civil Cost Control Engineer to join our high-performing team. This role is ideal for civil engineering professionals with extensive experience in cost management, budgeting, and financial monitoring of civil construction projects. As a senior member of the cost control team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered on budget while maintaining high-quality standards and operational efficiency.

🌟 Key Responsibilities

Cost Planning & Budgeting

  • Review, validate, and update cost estimates for civil works post-project award, ensuring accuracy and alignment with contractual requirements.

  • Prepare comprehensive project budgets using Zodcon’s approved cost control frameworks, ensuring all cost components—including manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor expenses—are captured.

  • Develop cash flow forecasts and project financial plans to support management decision-making.

  • Perform cost benchmarking and value engineering assessments to optimize project expenditure and identify potential savings opportunities.

Cost Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track actual project costs against approved budgets and report variances promptly to project management and senior leadership.

  • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc cost reports for the Lead Civil Cost Control Engineer and Project Management Team (PMT).

  • Monitor and maintain up-to-date records of purchase orders, manpower allocations, equipment usage, and material expenditures.

  • Conduct analysis of cost trends to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions.

Change Management & Contract Administration

  • Support the evaluation and certification of civil and architectural change orders, claims, and variations in accordance with contractual terms.

  • Assist in reviewing contractor and vendor payment applications to ensure compliance with approved scope, schedule, and quality standards.

  • Maintain thorough documentation to support audit and contract compliance, including cost justifications, approvals, and financial reconciliation.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with project planning, procurement, engineering, and construction teams to align project execution with financial objectives.

  • Coordinate with the Lead Civil Cost Control Engineer to integrate cost information into broader project reporting systems.

  • Provide technical input during project reviews, design changes, and value engineering sessions.

Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct cost analyses to identify efficiency gains, cost-saving opportunities, and lessons learned for future projects.

  • Develop and maintain cost control templates, processes, and reporting tools to enhance departmental efficiency.

  • Support the implementation of industry best practices, tools, and systems for civil cost management.

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. A professional certification (e.g., PMP, CCE) is an added advantage.

  • Experience: 5–8 years of hands-on experience in civil cost control within large-scale construction projects.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in cost management software and advanced Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, macros, and dashboards).

    • Familiarity with construction methodologies, civil engineering principles, and project execution standards.

    • Knowledge of contract administration, including FIDIC standards, payment certifications, and claims evaluation.

  • Analytical & Communication Skills:

    • Strong analytical mindset to interpret cost data, forecast trends, and recommend corrective actions.

    • Excellent reporting skills with the ability to prepare clear, detailed, and actionable financial reports.

    • Effective communication and coordination skills to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and senior management.
