Grey Wolf Drilling International Ltd. is seeking experienced and highly qualified Rig Managers to join and lead our operations in Saudi Arabia. This is a unique opportunity for professionals with a strong background in drilling operations to manage high-performing teams, ensure operational excellence, and contribute to the success of major oil and gas projects in the region.
As a Rig Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily rig operations, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members. This role demands exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to drive operational efficiency while upholding the highest safety standards.
🌟 Key Responsibilities
As a Rig Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:
Operational Leadership & Management

Direct and manage daily activities of the rig crew in alignment with client goals and company expectations.

Coordinate rig moves with clients, transportation teams, and relevant personnel to ensure efficient operations.

Conduct pre-tour and daily briefings with rig crews to communicate objectives, safety priorities, and operational updates.

Oversee all aspects of drilling operations, including equipment, personnel, and resources, to maintain consistent production and performance.
Health, Safety & Compliance
-
Ensure strict adherence to the company’s Target Zero Rules, permit-to-work system, and other HSE management tools.

Participate in preventative and regulatory safety inspections, meetings, and audits to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

Promote a safety-first culture by leading by example, providing guidance, and addressing hazards proactively.
Client & Stakeholder Relations

Develop and maintain strong relationships with operator representatives, subcontractors, and other personnel on the rig.
-
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their operational expectations are met and exceeded.

Build customer confidence by delivering reliable operations and maintaining transparent communication.
Personnel Management & Mentoring
-
Assist in the effective management of personnel, including coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation.

Influence and motivate team members to maintain high standards of efficiency, safety, and productivity.

Resolve personnel issues and ensure strong teamwork and collaboration across all shifts.
Administrative & Technical Duties
-
Maintain accurate records of rig operations, safety incidents, and performance metrics.

Prepare reports for internal management and client review as required.

Demonstrate proficiency in computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, to support operational reporting.
🌟 Qualifications & Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Accredited engineering degree or diploma preferred, but not required.

Minimum 10 years of drilling industry experience, with a strong background in Oil & Gas well drilling operations.

Minimum 2 years experience in a rig management role or equivalent leadership position.

Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Proven ability to demonstrate excellent safety leadership and enforce compliance with HSE standards.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.

Experience in managing personnel and operations effectively, with the ability to influence, mentor, and lead teams.

Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and operational alignment.

Proficiency with computer hardware and Microsoft Office Suite for operational documentation, reporting, and communication.
