Asante Gold is seeking an experienced and dynamic Geoscience Technical Manager to lead our Geoscience Technical Centre and provide advanced technical services to support regional exploration and mine geology teams. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, innovation, and strategic growth by integrating cutting-edge technology and scientific methodologies into exploration and resource development programs.

The Geoscience Technical Manager will focus on optimizing exploration practices, improving resource definition, and supporting operational improvements across multiple sites. The role also emphasizes collaboration with universities and research institutions to foster innovation and develop new techniques for resource discovery.


🌟 Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage the Geoscience Technical Centre, ensuring administrative, governance, and technical requirements are met.

  • Promote Asante Gold’s commitment to health, safety, sustainability, and environmental standards, ensuring compliance across all projects.

  • Oversee geoscience activities across all Group properties, including budgeting, regulatory compliance, and effective management of consultants and team members.

  • Act as a change agent and project sponsor for key initiatives, setting the cultural tone and aligning teams with organizational priorities.

  • Develop and maintain high-performing teams by mentoring, coaching, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Exploration Strategy & Technical Excellence

  • Collaborate with exploration geologists and geoscientists to identify opportunities, evaluate programs, and provide oversight on mid- to long-term exploration strategies.

  • Deliver technical excellence services to exploration and mine geology teams, ensuring effective planning, execution, and evaluation of geological programs.

  • Lead the execution of strategies to enhance exploration practices, drive operational efficiencies, and improve overall performance in line with organizational goals.

  • Facilitate the exchange of geological and technical knowledge between regional teams and site technical groups to ensure consistency and collaboration.

Research, Innovation & Collaboration

  • Engage with university stakeholders and research institutions to initiate research projects focused on developing new technologies, exploration techniques, and resource discovery strategies.

  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement by introducing advanced methods, tools, and approaches to exploration and resource modeling.

  • Apply geoscientific insights to optimize exploration programs and integrate new knowledge into decision-making processes.

Stakeholder Management & Technical Reporting

  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with internal stakeholders, including Mine-Based Exploration Managers, Geoscience Technical Excellence teams, Resource Geology, Mine Planning, Geotechnical, Survey, Community Relations, and Operations teams.

  • Conduct technical audits to support business decisions, analyze information, and prepare technical reports for management and key stakeholders.

  • Present recommendations, provide status updates, and ensure informed decision-making across all geoscience initiatives.

Operational Oversight & Project Management

  • Oversee multi-rig exploration drilling programs (Reverse Circulation and Diamond Drilling), ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with company standards.

  • Manage multiple projects across various scales, maintaining effective oversight of resources, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs are implemented and adhered to, maintaining the integrity of geological and resource data.


🌟 Education, Experience & Competencies

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geosciences, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Master’s degree is desirable, demonstrating advanced expertise in geosciences.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in gold exploration, including experience in a Senior or leadership role.

  • Certification from the Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission (IDMC), Ghana.

  • Professional registration with a recognized association is desirable.

  • Proven experience managing multi-rig exploration drilling programs and geoscience teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership in high-performing teams with experience in conflict resolution and team dynamics.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency in standard industry Mining & Exploration software, such as Micromine, Datamine, Surpac, Vulcan, MapInfo, ArcGIS, Leapfrog.

  • Experience in geological and resource modeling, database administration, and integration (Acquire, Datashed, Fusion, etc.).

  • Strong understanding of magmatic-hydrothermal ore systems and current mineral deposit models.

  • Knowledge of economic geology principles and resource optimization strategies.

  • Familiarity with Duty of Care Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 2012 L.I 2182, and Mining Inspection Acts and Regulations.
